The Flintstones Returns!

Yabba dabba do believe the hype! The Flintstones, everybody’s favourite prehistoric family, is going to be remade by Family Guy and American Dad creator Seth McFarlane. The series is being tentatively scheduled for a 2013 release on the FX network in America and, while no UK launch has been announced, it’s unlikely we’ll have to wait too long for it to cross the pond.

McFarlane has eased fans fears that the new series won’t be faithful to the original, claiming that “The characters will look the same but the only thing that will change is the stories. What’s the [prehistoric] version of an iPod?” It’s a drawing career come full circle for MacFarlane, who was quoted as saying that one of the first cartoon characters that he drew, was Fred Flintstone, so FX will be hoping that they’ve placed the Flintstones revival into capable hands.

Obviously after the remake was announced, people started questioning who would take on the voice-over roles. Whilst no names have yet been attached to the show, Edie Falco has been hinting that she may be attached to the project, and also suggested that her one-time on screen husband in the Sopranos James Gandolfini will also be joining her in voicing the series.

Production on the series has been slated to start in late 2011 or early 2012, so it will be a case of watch this space, as we will soon be welcoming the stone-age family back onto our televisions. All together now.... WILLLLMMMAAAAAAAA!!!!
